Monday, December 21, 2009 | Derek's Place, Little Corn Island
Can't seem to sleep.

The ride here was on a tin box with wings and seemed very unsafe.
Picked up a taxi at the airport to the port on big corn. Drivers here speak english, play reggae, dodge dogs, people and children in the road while never using their brakes.
Trash everywhere and dirty children wander the streets and animals such as dogs, cows and donkeys roam the roads.
I was 95% sure that the ponga ride to little corn was going to be my last as I braced myself, held Catie's hand and waited for a watery death but somehow we were spared, this time.
Sunday, December 20, 2009 | 1pm | Managua Airport
Waiting to get on the plane to the Corn Islands. Things have been great so far but Nicaragua still seems like a shady place (and I don't mean shade from the sun). Was awake until 4am this morning with all the salsa music blasting from two different weddings.
Woke this morning and had breakfast. Cafe, Fruit, croissant...yogurt and fried cheese.
Saturday, December 19, 2009 | 8:30am | Miami Airport
Long plane ride with babies crying the entire flight. Slept a little and was very cramped. Feeling a little better about managua and unsure about why. We exchanged $200 and got back an a dirty 6 inch pile of Nicaraguan money. 3200 Cordoba. Crazy.
Later that day....
We made it to Managua and it's crazy expensive here at the hotel Camino Real. Worried about all the horror stories about the infectious diseases of Central and South America.
